Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer by train from the border, airport or any other destination in Switzerland to Montreux. Short walk to your hotel and check in. The town nestles in a sheltered Lake Geneva bay, surrounded by vineyards and against breathtaking backdrop of snow-covered Alps. Because of the exceptionally mild climate Montreux is called the capital of the Vaud Riviera. Plants associated with the Mediterranean, such as pines, cypresses and palm trees grow here. Charlie Chaplin, Freddie Mercury and several other famous people of world-renown lived and continue to live on the Vaud Riviera. Overnight in Montreux.
Day 2: Visit the famous Chateau de Chillon, one of the best-preserved medieval castles in Europe, take a cruise on Lake Geneva or enjoy a mountain excursion to the Rochers-de-Naye peak for fantastic views of the lake and the surrounding French and Swiss Alps. Overnight in Montreux.
Day 3: Board the GoldenPass train from Montreux and relax in the panoramic carriage as it sweeps through the many vineyards and country estates on its way to Interlaken. Overnight in Interlaken.
Day 4 and 5: You can choose on which day you want to have your excursion to the Jungfraujoch. Take the train from Interlaken to the Kleine Scheidegg at the foot of the famous Eiger. Change trains to get on board of the Jungfrau railway and ride via ‘Eiger Gletscher’ to the Jungfraujoch – the highest railway station in Europe at 3454 m with some breathtaking views of the Aletsch glacier at 22 km the longest in the Alps and an UNESCO World Heritage site. Overnight in Interlaken.
Day 6: Depart Interlaken by train to Brig where you will join the Glacier Express for a thrilling ride in the panoramic carriage to St. Moritz, taking in some of the most dramatic scenery Switzerland has to offer. The journey is narrated explaining the amazing engineering feat in overcoming extreme altitude variations by train. Overnight in St. Moritz.
Day 7: Today you will ride on the Bernina Express over the Bernina Pass. Past mighty glaciers and over the highest point at 2253 ms down to the palm trees of the mountain village of Tirano (Italy). You have around 2h to visit the cathedral and experience some of the exceptional local cuisine on offer in the many cafés and restaurants before starting your return journey. Overnight in St. Moritz.
Day 8: After breakfast you can enjoy St. Moritz a little bit longer and visit some of the many shops in this town or participate in one of the traditional sports, such as hiking, climbing or enjoy a spot of sailing, windsurfing, a rubber dinghy ride on the River Inn, tennis or horseriding. In addition, St. Moritz with a total of four golf courses is a golfer`s paradise. Transfer by rail to the airport/border back home or your next holiday destination.
