From Interlaken Ost, you can either take the train to Grindelwald or via Lauterbrunnen to Wengen.
From Grindelwald, you have two options: Either take the Eiger Express gondola to the Eiger Glacier station and change to the Jungfrau railway, or take the classic route over Kleine Scheidegg and change to the Jungfrau railway.
From Lauterbrunnen, take the Wengernalp railway via Wengen to Kleine Scheidegg and from there take the Jungfrau railway to the Jungfraujoch.
You can choose different routes for the outward and return journey. For example, ride the Eiger Express up and take the classic route via Kleine Scheidegg down.
The railways to the Jungfraujoch are open all year round and run continuously during operating hours. From Interlaken Ost, trains usually run every 30 minutes via Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen/Wengen. Due to maintenance work, the Eiger Express will be out of service from 9 to 20 November 2026. The Wengen – Kleine Scheidegg line will be closed from 9 November to 4 December 2026, and the Grindelwald – Kleine Scheidegg line from 26 October to 6 November 2026. During this time, you can reach the Jungfraujoch via the alternative routes. The current times can be found in the timetable.
From the beginning of May to the end of October, you must make a seat reservation for the trip to the Jungfraujoch. It is also strongly recommended outside this period. Seat reservations can be made directly with the Jungfrau railway and are not included in the ticket. Reserved seats cannot be changed or cancelled.
The Jungfraujoch is largely accessible. The easiest way to get there is on the Eiger Express from Grindelwald via the Eiger Glacier station to the Jungfraujoch.
If you are arriving via Kleine Scheidegg, you must register in advance by telephone. Trains run on this line that require rail staff to assist passengers getting on and off the train at the Kleine Scheidegg, Eiger Glacier and Jungfraujoch stations.
