Important information
- Ticket entitles the holder to a return journey from Brienz to the Rothorn Kulm
- Ride on the historic steam train
- The Brienz Rothorn Railway operates from the beginning of May to the end of October

Adults with a Swiss Travel Pass, Swiss Travel Pass Flex or Swiss Half Fare Card valid on the day of travel receive a 50% discount. Adults with a Berner Oberland Pass or Lucerne Travel Pass travel free of charge. There is no discount for senior citizens.
Children under 6 travel free of charge and do not require a ticket. If one parent has a Swiss Travel Pass, Swiss Travel Pass Flex or Swiss Half Fare Card valid on the day of travel, children between the ages of 6 and 15 travel free of charge with the included Swiss Family Card.
Please note: From 9 May to 5 June 2026, the Brienz Rothorn Railway will only run as far as the Planalp midway station.

Frequently asked questions
From 9 May to 5 June 2026, the train will run every two hours as far as the Planalp midway station. From 6 June to 25 October 2026, the train will run every hour to the Rothorn Kulm. The current times can be found in the timetable.
Some of the Brienzer Rothorn is accessible. Manual wheelchair users can take the steam train from Brienz by prior arrangement. Railway staff will help you get on and off the train.
Electric wheelchairs and oversized wheelchairs cannot be transported on the historic trains. The area around the Rothorn Kulm mountain station and the Berghaus mountain lodge is level and wheelchair accessible.
