Brienzer Rothorn ticket

From Brienz, you can take the steam train directly to the Rothorn Kulm mountain station. The train makes a brief stop along the way at the Planalp midway station. From 9 May to 5 June 2026, the train will only run as far as Planalp. The return journey from Brienz to the Rothorn Kulm takes around one hour each way.

From 6 June to 25 October 2026, the train will run every hour to the Rothorn Kulm. The current times can be found in the timetable.

It is strongly recommended to reserve a seat in good weather, at weekends and during the summer holidays. This is not included in the ticket price and can be reserved directly from Brienz Rothorn Railway.

Some of the Brienzer Rothorn is accessible. Manual wheelchair users can take the steam train from Brienz by prior arrangement. Railway staff will help you get on and off the train.

Electric wheelchairs and oversized wheelchairs cannot be transported on the historic trains. The area around the Rothorn Kulm mountain station and the Berghaus mountain lodge is level and wheelchair accessible.
