Children between the ages of 6 and 15 travel free of charge with the Swiss Family Card as long as they are accompanied by at least one parent with a Swiss Half Fare Card. The Swiss Family Card is issued automatically and free of charge. If children are accompanied by another person, the Swiss Family Card is not valid and a reduced ticket is required.

The Swiss Travel Pass is a ticket. On the selected travel days, you can enjoy unlimited travel by train, bus and boat, plus free or discounted journeys on many mountain railways and free admission to over 500 museums.

If you use a regional pass such as the Lucerne Travel Pass, Jungfrau Travel Pass or Berner Oberland Pass, it is only valid within the respective region. For journeys outside this region, you will need a separate ticket, which you can buy at half price with the Swiss Half Fare Card.
Combining it with the Swiss Travel Pass is not generally recommended, as it already covers most routes in full and therefore no additional discount is available with the Swiss Half Fare Card.
As a rule, no seat reservation is required in the Swiss rail network. If you still want to reserve a seat, you can view the capacity of your connection in the SBB timetable and make a reservation there if necessary. This is not included in the ticket price.
