How do I get to the First?

From Grindelwald, take the cable car directly to First. The journey takes around 25 minutes each way.

When is the First railway open?

The cable car operates daily and runs continuously during operating hours. Due to maintenance work, the railway will remain closed from 26 October to 27 November 2026. The current times can be found in the timetable .

Can I reserve my seat?

No, it is not possible to reserve seats for the journey to First.

Is First accessible to people with reduced mobility?

The First railway is accessible, including the Bort and Schreckfeld intermediate stations. The First mountain station and the restaurant are also accessible. The First Cliff Walk by Tissot is accessed via a dirt road with a maximum width of 1.20 metres. First View is not accessible due to steps. The First Flyer can be used by prior arrangement.

The Grindelwald-First ticket takes you straight from Grindelwald to the First – Top of Adventure. At the top, you can look forward to an impressive mountain panorama and the First Cliff Walk, which is included in the ticket. Other activities can be booked on site.

Adults with a Swiss Travel Pass, Swiss Travel Pass Flex, Swiss Half Fare Card or Berner Oberland Pass valid on the day of travel receive a 50% discount. Adults with a Jungfrau Travel Pass travel free of charge. There is no discount for senior citizens.

Children under 6 travel free of charge and do not require a ticket. If one parent has a Swiss Travel Pass, Swiss Travel Pass Flex or Swiss Half Fare Card valid on the day of travel, children between the ages of 6 and 15 travel free of charge with the included Swiss Family Card.
