The railways to the Jungfraujoch are open all year round and run continuously during operating hours. From Interlaken Ost, trains usually run every 30 minutes via Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen/Wengen. Due to maintenance work, the Eiger Express will be out of service from 20 to 24 April 2026 and from 9 to 20 November 2026. The Wengen – Kleine Scheidegg line will be closed from 9 November to 4 December 2026, and the Grindelwald – Kleine Scheidegg line from 26 October to 6 November 2026. During this time, you can reach the Jungfraujoch via the alternative routes. The current times can be found in the timetable.
From the beginning of May to the end of October, you must make a seat reservation for the trip to the Jungfraujoch. It is also strongly recommended outside this period. Seat reservations can be made directly with the Jungfrau railway and are not included in the ticket. Reserved seats cannot be changed or cancelled.
The Jungfraujoch is largely accessible. The easiest way to get there is on the Eiger Express from Grindelwald via the Eiger Glacier station to the Jungfraujoch.
If you are arriving via Kleine Scheidegg, you must register in advance by telephone. Trains run on this line that require rail staff to assist passengers getting on and off the train at the Kleine Scheidegg, Eiger Glacier and Jungfraujoch stations.
